Ben Wormleighton

Lecturer of Applied Mathematics Electrical & Systems Engineering

Ben is a lecturer of applied mathematics in the McKelvey School of Engineering. His domain research studies the algebraic and symplectic geometry of spaces arising in theoretical physics — more colloquially, "getting different geometries to talk to each other". He also has emerging interests in STEM education research, centering on formative assessment modes.

Dr. Wormleighton earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees at the University of Warwick in the UK before receiving his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, and spending three years as a a postdoc at WashU. He now works with faculty at a number of institutions across the US and Europe to facilitate spaces for early career academics to imagine and experiment with communal spiritual rhythms tuned to their vocational context. When not doing academic or ministry work he spends too much time tweaking music equipment (and not enough time playing), crafts cocktails, and wanders around outside (sometimes quickly).
