The Carver Project
The Carver Project is an organization of Christian faculty at Washington University in St. Louis.
We empower Christian faculty and students to serve and connect university, church, and society.
We work toward uncommon community, focused engagement, and creative dialogue.
Rooted locally…
Faculty Dinners
We host a regular dinner and discussion group for our faculty fellows and other Christian faculty at WashU across all seven schools. As faculty relationships develop, they lead to friendship and community (annual faculty/family retreat and informal social gatherings); co-taught courses (over time, 5 cross-disciplinary Beyond Boundaries classes have been created and co-taught by pairs of TCP faculty fellows); and ministry opportunities (faculty-led reading groups for students in various disciplines).
Reading Groups
We offer reading groups for students in law, medicine, art/architecture, business, and the humanities, as well as a group for international students. Faculty lead these vocationally-based discipleship groups monthly during the academic year.
Academic Speaker Series
We partner with local and national organizations to bring leading scholars and public intellectuals to Washington University and the St. Louis community for events on educational pluralism, religious freedom, medical education, faith and politics, and a host of other topics.
Church Partnerships
The Carver Project values partnerships with churches who share our mission. Partner churches welcome members of the university community in worship, connect church members to the Carver Project, participate in our programming, and support us through missions allocations or other gifts.
Reaching nationally…
Carver Classrooms
Carver Classrooms is a series of mini courses taught by university faculty on how their specific areas of study can be applied to enriching Christian life and leadership. These free, online courses are available to anyone through a generous grant from Trinity Church Wall Street in New York City.
The Carver Conversation
Our annual Carver Conversation convenes a panel of widely recognized Christian leaders for a discussion on contemporary issues. Past Carver Conversation panelists have included Tim Keller, Lecrae, and Beth Moore among many other thought leaders from many spheres of influence.
The Carver Connections
The Carver Connections is our annual blog series featuring entries from faculty fellows, staff, students, ministry partners, and others connected to The Carver Project. This year’s series features reflections on Paul’s message to the Athenians in Acts 17.
Newbigin Fellows
The Carver Project and Interfaith America partner in facilitating the Newbigin Fellows, an 18-month cohort experience focused on exploring Christian identity and interfaith cooperation on non-Christian campuses.
Legal Vocation Fellowship
The Legal Vocation Fellowship focuses on Christian formation and discipleship of early-career attorneys. This practically-oriented program is led by Christian law faculty and senior practitioners. We focus on Christian practitioners in law and proximate institutions who desire to restore the social fabric for love of neighbor and faithfulness to God.
